Wear the Party: A local Boulder company brings new meaning to putting on your party clothes

CU Engineering students Sean Hall and Alex Pasternack have taken their innovation out of the classroom and into a clothing line Wear the Party.

Wear the Party is a light reactive clothing company that Hall started about six months ago in Boulder.

"What we've done is develop a product that allows you to creatively express yourself, whether it's your dancing or your artistic ability or anything else through glowing light on your clothes," said Hall.

Discovered almost by accident, Hall and Pasternack were playing with blacklight ink painted on the ceiling of a friends basement when they realized the ink could be put onto clothing.

Today they have taken this idea and ran with it. By applying a light reactive ink to a plain white t-shirt and hitting it with an LED light the shirt will glow.

Hall said, "It holds a charge for about two to three minutes depending on how dark your environment is and you can literally draw anything you want and then two to three minutes it fades away and you have a clean pallet."

Last semester at the DJ Teisto concert was the first time that Hall realized they had a valuable idea that could be turned into a business when people had their backs to Tiesto to watch what Hall was doing on his shirt.

Today they have continued to expand. Over spring break Wear the Party attended Ultra Music Festival where they not only sold shirts, but made connections with the creators of Ultra who have event in seven different countries.

Wear the Party has big plans for the future. They hope to expand their clothing line to all garments from dresses to polo shirts as well as break into the international music scene over in Europe and other countries.
