CU students work to pay for tuition

In this tough economy, many CU students are forced to get a job to cover tuition.
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, 45% of full-time students are employed and 79% of part-time students are employed.

International relations senior, Sonya Klinger, has had many jobs to cover her educational costs. “I was a personal assistant for a woman. I was a hostess at an Italian restaurant, now I am a babysitter and the weekend manager for a nail spa. It gets pretty busy.”

CU’s Money Sense hosted Financial Literacy week this week. It was aimed at informing students about personal finance. This is a topic Sonya Klinger knows a lot about. “I make all my own money so I’m really grateful for what I have. I spend my money really wisely and I definitely cherish what I do have a lot more.”

Money Sense’s facebook says they “aim to promote personal financial planning by providing a variety of information that is both useful and engaging.” Their website, bursar.colorado.edu/cumoneysense, has helpful tools for students needing financial guidance.
