Fortune Cookies give students safety ideas

University Hill officials have found a unique way to spread awareness throughout its residents.

Students find tips in fortune cookies, such as, "Keep the noise down and keep the party inside," and "Be aware of theft. Keep strangers out of your house."

CU's off-campus committee has been doing walkabouts around University Hill for four years now and handing out the fortune cookies with safety reminders.

The walkabouts usually have some sort of university official to tag along. This year, CU Athletic Director Mike Bohn was happy to do his part.

"My hat's off to our colleagues across campus," Bohn said. "Its always fun to knock on someone's door and leave something behind."

Bohn understands how important it is to keep CU's students safe and aware. "The students are the heartbeat of our program. I think that's why important for us to reach out and help them understand that, and that we want them to do it the right way."

The OCCS plans to do more walkabouts later this year regarding fire safety.
