Oscar trends tackle spring fashion questions

Sunday night was the film industry's biggest night. The Academy Awards honor the best movies of the year, but the following day is all about the event's biggest fashions.

Oscar nominees and presenters walked the red carpet in glamorous gowns and dazzling diamonds.

CU Style Guru Alice Fennelly, from collegefashionista.com, had a hard time deciding on one look she liked best.

"My favorite looks were definitely Mila Kunis and Gwyneth Paltrow. I mostly liked Mila's dress because the color looked so good on her."

Fennelly also noticed some overlying trends that the ladies wore that night.

"I noticed three main trends," said Fennelly. "I saw a lot of neutrals, like nude colors. There was definitely a lot of lace, and there was definitely a lot of sparkly embellishments."

With the spring weather making it's way into Boulder this week, the Oscars fashion show gave insight into how to dress for the new season.

"There was a lot of minimalist makeup. A nude lip, and pinkish blush really ties together with a light colored lace top," said Fennelly.
