Recycling made easy by CU Recycling Services

Recycling is nothing new to the University of Colorado. In 1976, CU started recycling and in 1995 received the first “Outstanding School Program” award from the National Recycling Coalition.

Recycling Services at CU is one of the leading campus recycling programs in the country, but this award did not come easy. This group has made recycling just as easy as not. Each dorm room comes equipped with a blue recycle bin to encourage recycling which is just one of the many places on the CU campus to recycle.

WHERE to Recycle:
•Residence hall rooms
•Residence hall computer rooms
•Lecture halls
•Central locations in academic buildings
•UMC fountain area and eating areas
•Family housing—trash dumpsters
•Rec center—inside and outside

WHAT to Recycle:
•Office pack
•Newspaper
•Co-Mingled Containers
•Mixed papers
•Cardboard

This sounds quite simple, but with so many options, some might still be confused. CU Recycling Services addresses this potential problem by offering:

•Recycling presentations
•Tours of CU Campus Recycling Facility
•Visits to the CU Environmental Center
•Residence Hall meeting presentations
•Bulletins delivered to your door
• Green Teams—give info to off-campus residents
•SWAT Teams (Save the World Action Team)
•Recycle Mania event
•America Recycles Day (Nov. 15)
