Aliens and U.F.Os on Denver's radar

Denver resident Jeff Peckman received 10,000 signatures for his proposal. The city requires 3,974 signatures and City Clerk and Recorder Stephanie O’Malley deemed 4,211 of those 10,000 signatures valid.

According to The Huffington Post, in 2008, after his video of live aliens in Nebraska gained national attention, Peckman appeared on various talk shows including the Late Show with David Letterman where he claimed, “our own U.S. government has categorized 57 different species of extraterrestrials that have already been on our planet.”

The commission, consisting of seven members, would collect evidence of extraterrestrials and UFO sightings in Colorado and prepare residents for possible encounters with aliens.

When the idea of the commission was introduced last year, Peckman told the Rocky Mountain News, “It is important because if you’re driving down the highway and you saw a crash of a small spaceship and a car or a bus full of kids, you really wouldn’t know what to do…Do you wait for the hazardous materials experts to show up because of potential contaminants from another solar system? What do you do? People really don’t know.”
