C-Unit headed to Los Angeles
The Colorado basketball student section, also know as the C-Unit, has been turning heads and getting noticed all season. They've made the semifinals of the Naismith Student Section of the Year award as well as being featured in Sports Illustrated's online photo gallery.
For all of the exposure they have brought to the Colorado basketball program, the athletic department should do something for them in return right?
Well they are, CU is providing an all-expense paid trip to the Pac-12 Tournament for 50 qualifying students from the C-Unit. The top 50 student ticket pass holders are getting a free flight, hotel room, and tickets to the conference basketball tournament from March 7-10.
Since the athletic department has implemented the sports pass holders rewards program, student attendance at basketball games has increased dramatically. The students now have have more of an incentive to attend games in order to get free stuff.
If a student goes to 4 games they get a Chipotle gift card, 8 games they get basketball shorts, and 12 games they get a CU basketball hoodie. The product on the court isn't half bad either with Tad Boyle at the helm. The Buffs are 32-4 at home since he took over at the beginning of last season, and that has also helped drive student attendance.
Now it's the students turn to take their passion on the road and help support the Buffs from the Staples Center in Los Angeles for the Pac-12 Tournament.
