CU battles CSU in Lacrosse Rocky Mountain Showdown
Same teams, same venue, same event, different sport.
The Rocky Mountain Showdown is not limited to just the big sports of football and basketball, lacrosse has a place among the Colorado-Colorado State battles as well.
Other sports like lacrosse may not be as big but they are just as important and just as passionate about the rivalry.
It doesn't hurt that they are both pretty good at lacrosse too.
Entering Saturday's match-up, both teams were ranked in the top-10 of the men's club lacrosse association poll and the game was not a disappointment.
CU went up by four late in the second half but CSU would storm all the way back with four goals of their own to send the game to overtime.
It would eventually head to a second overtime and CSU would capitalize on the tired CU defense to score the game winner less than a minute in. The Rams would win this year's version of the Rocky Mountain Showdown 11-10.
Although both team's traditionally don't like each other, at least for one moment they showed their sportsmanship by shaking each other's hands after the contest.
