CU Chancellor DiStefano focuses on study abroad in address
Studying abroad was one topic discussed during Chancellor DiStefano’s state of the campus address given at the University Memorial Center Monday afternoon.
The University of Colorado at Boulder hopes to internationalize campus by
increasing the number of students studying abroad from 28 percent to 50
percent.
The study abroad office recognizes the financial, academic barriers and lack of knowledge are what keep students from studying abroad.
“We want students to know they can use their federally funded financial aid and the scholarships they receive,” Director of Study Abroad Programs Mary Dando
said. “They also can apply for a scholarship through us.”
Every department on campus needs to focus more on fitting studying abroad into the curriculum in order for CU to reach this goal in the next five years.
For more information, students can visit the study abroad office in the basement of the Environmental Design building or go to http://studyabroad.colorado.edu/.
