CU students await Family Weekend
Family weekend is just a week away. This means over 5,000 parents from around the country are visiting CU. The office of Parent Relations is gearing up for the influx of people to hit the CU campus.
“We literally start planning family weekend the day after we finish the current family weekend” Said Joyce Kinde, Assistant Director of Parent Relations.
Joyce knows this is no small event for CU. According to her, there are over 40 planned events on campus for parents. They vary from open houses of different clubs and organizations like the ROTC program, GLBTQ center, and Residential Academic Programs. There are tours around Boulder, at NCAR and on Campus. Parents can also attend 3 sporting events: Women's soccer and volleyball games and CU's first Pac 12 confrence football game versus the Washington State Cougars.
Joyce isn't the only one awaiting Family weekend- Aly Pomerantz, CU Sophomore, is getting ready for her Mom, Dad, two brothers, and her grandmother to arrive next Thursday.
“I know I'm not going to get anything done that weekend so i'm getting a lot of my homework done now," says Aly.
Aly's grandmother is helping her pay for college so this is an extra special time.
“I'm excited to get a chance to show her where I am and the kind of stuff I do," she says, "and my house... everyones' seen a dorm room but now I have a house.... I know they will come back next year and I will love to show them around again.”
The date for next year's Family Weekend is still undecided, but is expected to be in October once again, The Office of Parent Relations will have up to date information on their website at www.Parents.Colorado.edu
