CU's Career Services offers a hand with job searches

CU seniors face a tough challenge this year when they graduate. Employers are expecting to hire fewer graduates than in the past. To help students come up with a plan, CU provides some unique job search services.

Thousands of CU students will graduate this December eager to discover their dream career; however, the future may not be so bright. Jobs are becoming fewer and farther in between, but CU's Career Services may be able to help students come up with a plan.

"We offer everything from career exploration to the nuts and bolts, like resume writing," said Ann Herrman, career counselor in the Career Services office.

Career Services offers helpful tools to assist students with their job search and interview process. Today, they will host an info fair for Freshmen in the UMC's Glenn Miller Ballroom at 3:00 pm. Some of the other tools offered are:

• Resume and cover letter critiques
• Career Fairs
• Career Panals
• Practice interviews- on or off camera

The career fairs and panals provide students with a chance to meet with working professionals and hear advice on how to break in to the profession. "We have lots of contact with employers and an idea of what they are looking for," said Herrman.

The Career Services office will also host a "Dining for Success" event on October 20th in the UMC. The event will focus on proper dinner etiqutte, in case students ever find themselves at dinner with a prospective employer.
