Few votes for student government elections

While most students are focused on the national election next Tuesday, an important contest is already taking place on campus. This week the University of Colorado's student government is holding elections, which has important implications for how the campus is run. However, last fall only 591 students voted, representing only three percent of CU's enrollment.

CUGS is one of the most powerful student governments in the country, operating autonomously and overseeing a budget of nearly $37 million to operate campus services and facilities like the Recreation Center and University Memorial Center. Students can vote online through mycuinfo.colorado.edu until Friday, October 29th at 8 p.m.
