Halloween homecoming

With the homecoming football game falling on Halloween this year, many students want to know if their costume will be permitted inside the stadium.

Students all across the CU campus are getting fired up for the homecoming game against the Missouri Tigers this Saturday. Not only are students exciting for football, but it just so happens Saturday is Halloween. Many students will be donning their costumes at the game, including CU junior Ben Ball.

"Dude I think it's awesome to go dressed up to the football game. I mean I'm going to go as a mauled tiger. I'm super excited."

Though many students haven't put the same thought into their costumes as Ben, expect to see many of the year's most popular costumes, like Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson. Animal suits are also a popular choice for students, and though the costumes may be great for parties, will these costumes be allowed in the game?

CU Police Department Commander Tim McGraw expects to see the full run of costumes Saturday. There's just one thing he doesn't want to see that will get students kicked out.

"If someone shows up with profane language on a shirt or something like that, they can be turned away and told to change, and then can come back later. But in so far if someone wants to dress up in a costume there is no prohibition in that."

This is good news for students like Ben who want to incorporate blood and other props into their costumes.

However, Commander McGraw warns students and other fans that with the cold weather patting down heavy jackets and costumes will add increased time to the already long and packed entrance lines.

His solution to the lines, "
show up early. We always encourage people to show up earlier for the games so they're not missing anything and they can get in and then avoid the rush and crush at the gate."

Though students are concerned about the long lines and the costume restrictions, many of them have one thing on their mind, a Buffs win.

"This would be a huge week for the Buffs to win. Being Halloween and homecoming it would just be super exciting," said Ben Ball.

Costumed fans may be in luck this week. CU is 1-0 against Missouri on Halloween at Folsom Field. Fans just hope the Buffs can produce a "thriller" and scare out a win.
