Two CU football players disciplined
Two CU football players have been cited by the Boulder Police Department after allegedly being involved in a fight at the Kappa Sigma Fraternity house Friday night.
According to a Daily Camera article, sophomore quarterback Tyler Hansen has been cited on suspicion of physical harassment. His teammate, freshmen Vince Ewing, was also cited on suspicion of third-degree assault. Signs of alcohol use werepresent in both players, police said.
Ewing has been suspended indefinitely from the team. The Buffs are keeping Hansen’s disciplinary measures a private team matter. Minor rule infractions, like being late for practice or missing a weight lifting session are taken care of in “leadership groups.” Those groups consist of players, a student athlete leader and an assistant coach. The groups find ways to discipline the player, which usually means staying after practice for some extra conditioning.
Whether or not a player is suspended is ultimately up to the head coach. The last players to be suspended by head coach Dan Hawkins were offensive linemen Ethan Adkins and Devin Head, who were suspended last year. According to a Daily Camera article, Adkins was suspended for driving under the influence last September.
