Colorado students protested against a bill proposing a cut in funding for higher education on Wednesday.

For the past two years, higher education has seen a 50 percent cut of state funding. This amounts to a total of $300 million.

Currently, Colorado is ranked as the 49th state in the nation for amount of state funding received for higher education. Students fear this bill will lead to an increase in tuition. However, the Colorado budget is suffering from a $1.3 billion deficit, and higher education might be the one taking the punch.
